The Oase FiltoClear pressurized filters are designed to be reliable, high-performing and user-friendly. They use multiple sets of sponges to capture particles of different sizes. The water passes over a quartz sleeve that houses a UVC lamp, which emits ultraviolet light to eliminate harmful pathogens and algae cells that are too small to be filtered by the sponges.
 
To use the FiltoClear filter, you need an external pump to supply water to it. You can purchase this pump separately or as part of the Oase FiltoClear Sets. The pressurized filter can be placed above or below the water level and can be mostly buried to remain unobtrusive. It can be used with any water feature and can be integrated easily into a watercourse, waterfall or stream.
 
The latest FiltoClear filter design includes several enhancements. The UVC lamps are more powerful and emit a higher output for additional UV filtration. The cleaning handle has been redesigned to require less force and make it easier to compress the sponges during the cleaning cycle. The sponge housing now compresses each sponge simultaneously, making it more efficient. The filter and pump can continue to operate even when the ballast unit is removed for regular maintenance or when replacing the UV lamp.
 
The metal clamp ring has a more ergonomic lever function that is easier to use and more secure under pressure. The waste valve has been redesigned and simplified for a more efficient cleaning process. The filter comes with clear hose tails with a blue flow-indicating O-ring that can be used to estimate the current flow through the filter based on the angle of the indicator on the O-ring. This makes it easy to determine when the FiltoClear is clogged and needs a cleaning cycle.
 
We strongly recommend these filters are only used for goldfish ponds, stocked at 1 fish per 100 litres. These filters are not suitable for larger species.
