It's important to remember that when decorating a Patio Pond, aquatic plants should be used to not only keep the water clean, but also to provide a visually appealing look. The recommended plant options include a water lily for the center of the pond, with marginal plants placed around the edges and on the integrated shelf. Other types of large, small, and floating plants can also be used to create a unique aquatic garden.
Installing the Patio Pond is an easy process since they are standalone items, but it's important to rinse them before use to remove any debris from the manufacturing or transportation process. Once this is done, fill the pond with water and start adding decorations. Lighting and water features can also be added with stones and gravel to keep everything in place. Additionally, the cable for these features can be conveniently hidden away and trailed out of the Patio Pond thanks to the removable notch built into each bowl.
Adding a water feature to the Patio Ponds not only provides a peaceful water sound but also promotes the introduction of oxygen to the water, which helps bacteria to thrive and break down excess nutrients into compounds that can then be absorbed by the aquatic plants. This creates a more sustainable ecosystem and reduces the frequency of maintenance required.
While a few small fish can be added to the Patio Pond, Aquascape recommends adding filtration to ensure the water remains healthy and excess nutrients do not build up due to fish waste. To help with water quality and excess nutrients, a 15% water change weekly is recommended, which only takes a few minutes and keeps the water clean and clear.
