When constructing a pond, it is important to protect the flexible pond liner from damage. To do this, we recommend using a puncture-resistant underlay. This particular black fleece (250gsm) is an excellent option for medium to large ponds or where the ground is rough. It can also be used on top of the liner to conceal the edges and prevent stones and soil from sliding into the pond. If the ground is particularly stony, we suggest removing visible stones and covering the pond base with 2 inches of sand before laying the underlay.

To calculate the size of the liner and fleece for your pond, you should use a rope. Follow these steps for accurate measurements:
1. Measure the maximum length of your pond and add twice the maximum depth of your pond. Then, add an extra meter for the edging.
2. Measure the maximum width of your pond and add twice the maximum depth of your pond. Then, add an extra meter for the edging.
For example, if your pond is 8 meters long, 4 meters wide, and 1 meter deep, you will need a liner that measures 11 meters by 7 meters.
